CCI and The Icebreaker launch initiative to map Canadian dual-use technology ecosystem
July 10, 2025
Canada is ramping up military spending to meet NATO targets, and Canadian innovators need to be involved. In collaboration with The Icebreaker, CCI is making sure that Canadian tech companies are on the government's radar, by mapping our private sector defence capacity.
This is your chance to put your products in front of government, at a critical time.
If your company has technologies that could be used by the Canadian federal government for defence applications, please fill out this survey. It should take less than 5 minutes.

The government's plan to increase defence spending is an enormous opportunity propel the growth of the domestic technology sector through defence procurement. But when we talk to the federal government we are often told that Canadian companies just don’t have the necessary capacity to meet Canada’s defence needs.
The federal government has asked CCI to give them names of Canadian companies that can help serve Canada’s defence needs, and so we’re trying to develop a broad database of companies, and their capabilities.
Please share this survey as widely as possible — in particular, send it to anybody you know at a company that offers dual-use or defence-focused technologies.
We will be sharing this information with government, and contacting companies identified through our mapping exercise, to see if there are strategies to collectively ensure that Canadian companies are on the government’s radar.
Questions about this mapping exercise can be directed to Dana O’Born, Vice President, Strategy & Advocacy, Council of Canadian Innovators: doborn@canadianinnovators.org
