November 12, 2025

The Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI) is enhancing its financial capacity to ensure long-term organizational strength and provide members with exceptional support. To advance this work, CCI is pleased to welcome Natasha Southwell as Controller.

A CPA with more than 15 years of experience working with Canadian small businesses, Natasha has developed deep expertise in financial management and process improvement. Natasha’s career has focused on building systems that strengthen performance, improve reporting accuracy, and enable sustainable growth.

Before joining CCI, Natasha held senior roles at Viral Nation Inc. and the Innovation Asset Collective, where she successfully implemented financial structures that improved scalability and clarity across operations. Her ability to align sound financial practices with organizational strategy has been key to helping growing companies reach the next level.

“At CCI, sound financial management supports everything we do,” said Benjamin Bergen, President of CCI. “Natasha brings a strong track record of building effective systems and guiding organizations through growth. Her leadership will help ensure CCI’s operations remain efficient and ready for the future.”

“I’m thrilled to join CCI and contribute to its mission of empowering Canadian innovators,” said Natasha Southwell, CCI Controller. “Financial strength and good governance are vital to growth, and I look forward to helping CCI continue building on its strong foundation.”

Natasha holds an Honours Bachelor of Accounting from Brock University, where she served on the Brock University Accessibility Advisory Committee, helping to make the campus more inclusive for students with disabilities.

As CCI grows, Natasha’s leadership will reinforce the organization’s commitment to operational excellence and ensure it continues to deliver lasting value to Canada’s innovation economy.

À PROPOS DU CONSEIL

Founded in 2015 by Canada’s most successful technology CEOs, CCI aims to amplify their voices in the public policy development process around innovation, countering the dominance of foreign multinationals and other entities not focused on Canadian economic growth. CCI’s CEOs lead Canadian-based innovation firms in sectors such as Healthtech, Cleantech, Fintech, Cyber, and ICT, driving commercialization of intellectual property, generating jobs and wealth, making investments, and engaging in philanthropy. We advocate on their behalf for government strategies that increase their access to skilled talent, strategic capital, and new customers, as well as expanded freedom to operate for their global pursuits of scale.
