A Smarter Way to Modernize: How Toronto’s Conscia is Helping Ontarians Access Faster, Simpler Government Services

June 4, 2025

Across Canada, governments are under pressure to make public services more accessible, more user-friendly, and more digital. But behind the scenes, that transformation is often slowed by outdated systems, siloed data, and legacy technologies that weren’t built for modern delivery. Replacing those systems isn’t just costly—it’s disruptive. So what’s the alternative?

For the Government of Ontario, the answer came from Conscia, a Toronto-based technology company founded and led by Sana Remekie.

Conscia specializes in helping complex organizations like governments connect their existing systems in a way that allows digital services to be built more quickly and efficiently. The company doesn’t replicate or replace data—it creates a secure, real-time bridge between backend infrastructure and public-facing tools. This approach empowers digital product teams to build better services without waiting for a complete overhaul of the underlying technology.

That’s exactly what happened in Ontario. Conscia’s platform now powers several key online tools used by residents across the province, including the Single Window for Business Permit Listings and Tracker (recently demonstrated by Premier Doug Ford), the Long-Term Care Home Finder, and the Ontario Courts Finder. Each tool provides real-time information from across government systems, made possible by Conscia’s integration layer—without forcing departments to rebuild their operations or duplicate data.

“Conscia has played a crucial role in speeding up our development processes,” says Manish Agarwal, CIO of Ontario’s Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. “By efficiently integrating data delivery between our backend systems and user interfaces, it enables our digital product teams to operate independently and launch features more quickly. We are proud to partner with an Ontario-based technology scale-up and support their ongoing growth within Canada.”

That local connection matters. Conscia’s success isn’t just about speed—it’s about understanding how government works in Canada. That includes the policy constraints, accessibility standards, and public accountability requirements that shape how services must be delivered. Working with a Canadian partner helps ensure that public dollars support domestic innovation, while building solutions that are rooted in the lived realities of Canadians.

“We’ve seen too many public-sector modernization efforts get stalled because systems weren’t designed to work together,” says Sana Remekie, Conscia’s CEO. “We built Conscia to fix that—by giving governments the ability to modernize their digital experiences without having to rip out what’s already in place. And as a Canadian company, we care deeply about helping governments serve Canadians better.”

As governments across the country look to accelerate digital service delivery while staying within budget and policy frameworks, Conscia is offering a made-in-Canada path forward—one that works with what already exists, delivers real results, and supports the next generation of homegrown tech success stories.
