CCI Privacy Notice

This privacy notice provides details about how the Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI) collects, uses and discloses personal information, which includes any information that can be used to identify a person. CCI is responsible for personal information under its control and has a privacy officer to ensure compliance.

By using canadianinnovators.org (the CCI website), you signify your consent and agreement to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as outlined in this privacy notice. CCI is committed to protecting the privacy of its website users’ personal information and respects the need for security surrounding the collection, use and disclosure of this information. The CCI website may contain links to sites that are owned and controlled by other organizations. CCI is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of other sites.

Information Collection

CCI collects personal information when you visit the CCI website through the use of cookies and online forms, such as event registrations or newsletter requests. CCI limits the collection of personal information to that which is reasonably required to provide our services. When you access the CCI website, our servers automatically collect limited information for traffic monitoring and statistical purposes. We cannot identify you from this information, which includes IP addresses of computers accessing the site, the operating systems and the types and versions of browsers used to access the site, the date and time the site is accessed, the pages visited, the key words used in the search engine, the name and size of files requested, and the URL of any referring website.

Although cookies do not generally collect personally identifiable information, they do create a detailed user profile over time, by tracking website users’ actions while online. CCI uses session cookies and persistent cookies, both of which are stored on the website users’ hard drive and collect information about website user habits. Information Use (Purpose)

CCI uses the personal information collected to provide event or newsletter services you have requested. Personal information collected for a specific purpose will only be used and retained for as long as necessary to fulfill that purpose. CCI will not rent, sell or trade any of your personal information, and will only share your personal information with a third party in the limited situations detailed in this privacy notice. We may disclose your personal information to a third-party service provider when necessary to provide the service you have requested; however, only the minimal amount of information required to perform the service will be disclosed.

Registration

If you register for a newsletter or event on the CCI website, information you provide will be stored only for the purposes disclosed at the time of collection. CCI may use this information to contact you if there are significant changes to the service or event you have signed up for.

Contact Forms

When you submit a contact or general inquiry form to CCI through the CCI website, we collect personal information such as name, company name and email address, so that we can properly respond to your request. Information submitted through general inquiry forms will be used only to respond to the inquiry or to fulfill requests submitted as part of the inquiry. 

Disposal of Personal Information

Information that is no longer required will be disposed of in a secure manner to ensure there is no breach of privacy during the process.

If you wish to unsubscribe, check the accuracy of or modify your personal information, you may do so using the link provided, or email contact@canadianinnovators.org at any time.

Amendments to the CCI Privacy Notice

CCI will review and update this policy to ensure it remains current and reflects changes to company policy and new privacy legislation. If significant amendments are made, we will send a notification by email to our contact list and post a notification to the CCI website.

The privacy officer is the main contact for anyone needing more information on the privacy notice or wanting to lodge a complaint regarding how their personal information has been handled.
