Innovation That Cares: How Montreal’s AlayaCare Is Modernizing Canada’s Home Health System
June 18, 2025
In homes across the country, a transformation is underway that is quietly redefining how care is delivered. At the center of this change is AlayaCare, a fast-growing Montreal-based software company that provides a comprehensive platform for home and community-based care.
Founded in 2014, AlayaCare now employs over 600 people and serves a growing roster of public, private, and non-profit care providers across Canada and beyond. Their end-to-end platform manages every stage of the client journey, from needs assessments and scheduling to real-time visit verification and virtual care, helping providers increase efficiency and improve outcomes.
One of AlayaCare’s most impactful partnerships is with CBI Home Health, one of Canada’s largest providers of home and community care. With 8,000 professionals serving more than 800 communities nationwide, CBI Home Health began a digital transformation in 2019 by selecting AlayaCare as its core technology platform.
“We were running multiple legacy applications hosted in physical data centres, with decentralized operations and inconsistent user experiences,” says Andrew Prahalad, Vice President, Information Technology at CBI Home Health. “AlayaCare helped us unify our services nationally, eliminate our data centres, reduce emissions, and accelerate our digital and automation strategy. The platform has been critical to improving how we deliver care.”
Together, the two organizations have significantly reduced operational complexity and costs. They have replaced legacy systems with a centralized, cloud-based infrastructure that supports CBI’s broader sustainability goals. The move also helped enable SOC 2 Type II compliance and laid the groundwork for future innovations in call center technologies and data analytics.
What sets this partnership apart is a shared belief in building technology that responds to the real-world demands of frontline care. AlayaCare worked closely with CBI to co-design workflows and user experiences that reflect the realities of staff and patients alike. Today, the companies are exploring targeted AI applications within the platform to further personalize care and optimize outcomes.
“This is a great example of Canadian companies building together to solve Canadian problems,” says Adrian Schauer, CEO of AlayaCare. “As the demands on our health system increase, home and community care will play a central role. We’re proud to be helping CBI deliver on that mission with the technology and flexibility to adapt quickly.”
As more of Canada’s healthcare system shifts to community and home-based models, partnerships like this one show the importance of investing in domestic innovators who understand the complexity and nuance of the populations they serve. In the case of AlayaCare and CBI, the results speak for themselves: better care, delivered smarter.
