CCI Response to the 2026 Federal Budget
November 5, 2026
Today, Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne tabled the 2026 federal budget. In response, Daniel Perry, Director of Federal Affairs at the Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI), issued the following statement on behalf of CCI’s members, more than 175 Canadian-headquartered scale-up innovation companies:
"Budget 2026 puts Canada’s ambition to build and scale world-class companies front and centre. The new Canada Growth Incentive is a direct response to the advocacy of Canada’s innovators, and will create the conditions for more Canadian companies to attract the people and capital they need to scale. Expanding SR&ED to commercialization, reforms to how Canadians see benefits from university research, and intellectual property supports give Canadian innovators a stronger foundation for global success.
"There is still important work to do to make Canada the best place in the world to scale an innovative company and to govern 21st-century economic realities, including data, strategic standards, financial infrastructure, and intellectual property, but this budget is a significant step in the right direction."
