CCI Welcomes BluWave-ai to Our National Network of Innovators
July 15, 2026
The Council of Canadian Innovators is proud to welcome BluWave-ai and Founder & Chief Executive Officer Devashish Paul to our growing national network of Canadian technology companies.
Based in Ottawa, BluWave-ai uses artificial intelligence to help accelerate the global transition to renewable energy and electrified transport building the critical "AI mission computing" for grids and electrified transport. The company's software platforms apply predictive AI to optimize smart grids, manage electric vehicle charging, and help utilities, industrial customers, data centers, and large energy consumers balance energy supply and demand in real time. By improving efficiency across energy systems, BluWave-ai helps organizations reduce both costs and carbon emissions by leveraging a decade long vault of data with 24 billion records from vehicles, grids and weather feeds globally.
Founded in 2017, BluWave-ai has grown into a global clean technology company with international awards and live deployments across Asia, Europe, and North America. The company has built a growing patent portfolio that is one of the top three globally in their market with 15 granted patents by the USPTO and in excess of 60 international patents filed, based in Canada. The company has offices in Ontario, Calgary, Prince Edward Island and has also expanded to Tokyo, Japan based on an investment by that city's government to bring Canadian AI tech to their market. As countries invest in electrification and modern energy infrastructure, BluWave-ai is positioning Canadian-developed AI solutions to play a larger role in powering the energy transition.
BluWave-ai is led by Devashish Paul, an experienced technology executive and veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Prior to founding the company, he spent more than two decades building and scaling technology businesses across Canada, Silicon Valley, Europe, and Asia. His experience spans startups, public companies, and global industry initiatives, including leadership roles with the Open Compute Project and CERN OpenLab.
"Canada has the talent and expertise to lead in both artificial intelligence and clean technology," said Patrick Searle, Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Canadian Innovators. "BluWave-ai is demonstrating how Canadian companies can apply advanced technologies to solve complex global challenges while creating valuable intellectual property and economic growth here at home. We are pleased to welcome Devashish and the BluWave-ai team to CCI."
Since 2015, the Council of Canadian Innovators has been dedicated to supporting Canada’s high-growth technology companies, working with government leaders to co-develop strategies that strengthen Canadian innovation, productivity, and long-term economic resilience.
