Mike Matta, Co-Founder & CEO of Solink, joined Patrick for a conversation about what physical-world Artifitical Intelligence (AI) can unlock for businesses, how Solink approaches responsible video intelligence, and what Canada needs to do to build more durable technology champions.

Mike traced Solink’s origin back to a simple realization: the physical world is full of valuable data, but most organizations still cannot turn what their cameras capture into decisions they can act on. Solink’s platform changes that by combining video with business data to surface patterns, reduce risk, and help operators run smarter across thousands of locations.

They also dug into the shift now underway in AI, from basic detection to systems that can reason about what they see, and why that matters for everything from security and loss prevention to day-to-day operations. The conversation lands on a bigger theme too: if Canada wants to win in AI, it has to back builders who are in it for the long haul and get more focused about where the country can lead.
