Kepler Communications Joins CCI’s National Network

Canada’s space ambitions are being built in Toronto. The Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI) welcomes Kepler Communications and Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Mina Mitry to our national network of high-growth technology companies.

Kepler designs, manufactures and operates low-Earth-orbit satellites entirely on Canadian soil. Its optical relay network uses laser links to move data between satellites in real time, helping government and commercial customers access information generated in space. The company also provides computing services in orbit and enables customers to deploy payloads aboard its satellites.

With 33 satellites launched to date, Kepler is bringing Canadian engineering to international space programs. It is the first Canadian company to serve as prime contractor for a European Space Agency program, leading the agency’s HydRON initiative. Its infrastructure supports applications ranging from wildfire monitoring to defence and space domain awareness.

Mina Mitry co-founded Kepler in 2015 with a vision of building internet connectivity for space. He holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Toronto and leads the company’s work to make space-generated data more accessible through its optical data relay constellation.

“Kepler shows what Canadian companies can achieve when technical expertise meets the ambition to build and compete globally,” said CCI Chief Executive Officer Patrick Searle. “Building space infrastructure here creates Canadian capabilities with customers and applications around the world. We’re pleased to have Mina and his team join our network as we work to help more Canadian companies scale.”

Since 2015, CCI has worked with government leaders to advance policies that help Canadian technology companies grow. Kepler joins a national network of CEOs working together to strengthen Canada’s capacity to build, own and commercialize technology.
