Dana O’Born Promoted to CCI's Chief Strategy Officer

December 9, 2025

TORONTO, ON – December 9, 2025 – The Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI) today announced the appointment of Dana O'Born as Chief Strategy Officer.

Over the last decade, Dana has been instrumental in building CCI’s advocacy strategy, securing policy wins, and elevating the voice of Canada’s scale-up economy in Ottawa and across the provinces. In her new role, she will advance CCI’s strategic influence, deepen government relationships, and champion the interests of homegrown innovators on the national stage.

“The national conversation has finally caught up to what CCI has championed since day one: that Canada’s prosperity and security hinge on the success of domestic innovators,” said John Ruffolo, vice-chair of the Council of Canadian Innovators. “With two leaders who know this organization and the innovation sector inside and out, CCI is poised for its next stage of impact. Backed by the board, Dana and Patrick’s combined leadership will expand CCI’s reach and help shape the policy conditions that enable Canada’s tech companies to grow and compete globally.”

Before being named Chief Strategy Officer, Dana O’Born served as CCI’s Vice President of Strategy and Advocacy, leading the Council’s work on long-term strategy and policy with a focus on helping Canadian-headquartered innovators compete and scale globally. Over nearly a decade at CCI, she has driven national advocacy on files such as intellectual property, procurement, and economic security, and helped position the organization as a trusted partner for policymakers and a key platform for founders and executives building globally competitive companies in Canada.

In addition to her role at CCI, O’Born is the Managing Partner of Signa Strategies, a newly launched independent strategic advisory firm founded to provide personalized government relations and public-affairs support to Canadian-headquartered technology companies.

O’Born will assume the role of Chief Strategy Officer effective January 2026.
